It is crucial for the designer to understand the importance of the user and their content when designing their website, app or implementing a social media campaign. The success will be related to how well the users content is translated through these means of digital media. For example, the Dutch newspaper, De Volkskrant, focuses on a target audience of well educated people. Those that read the paper have high standards, and the paper accommodates these expectations by providing news of the highest value. Therefore, I figured one way of keeping the readers engaged in this instance, would be to integrate the database in to the website in a way to make the user more curious.
As we take responsiveness for granted these days. It was quite a challenge to keep such a big database readable on smaller devices.
To keep the readers curious I believed that De Volkskrant -which has a massive database- had to add value to news articles. One way to do this is to find (and litteraly show) the readers connections between current events and incidents in the past. Only that will help the reader to understand, relate or critisize the situation.
